4th Grade Math Classroom Connection
The pandemic ended the school year early, and many students did not finish 4th grade math. It also looks like the virus will continue to disrupt education this year.
In 4th grade math classes, students begin to apply the skills from grades 1 – 3. If the student has unfinished learning from previous grade levels, the chance of becoming frustrated is more likely. Research shows that (for the first time) students in 4th grade tend to split into groups of ‘I am good at math’ or ‘I am not good at math’ which is directly related to how well they have mastered the basic concepts from previous grades.
